MOMMYHOOD
Hola! This is probably what I get asked the most by new moms - How do you exclusively pump? Why do you do it? How does it work? How often do you have to pump? How much do you pump? When I started out, I had no idea what I was doing and pieced together information from internet searches. Here is all of the information you need in one place – what exclusive pumping is, the pros and cons of exclusive pumping vs nursing, and how to exclusively pump breast milk.
My postpartum experience with Zidaan was filled with a lot of surprises. As a first time mom, I didn’t know how real the exhaustion, hormones and postpartum pain could be. The first week hit me hard due to challenges with breastfeeding, lack of sleep and fluctuating hormones. When I found out I was pregnant with Aiyla, I knew I wanted postpartum life to be something I looked forward to.
My little girl is here! Little Aiyla made her appearance this Monday at 11:38 am. My story this time around was a little unexpected and the complete opposite of my labor with my firstborn, Zidaan.
The story starts off on my 37th week appointment last Thursday.
When I was pregnant with Z, I was still a noob when it came to pregnancy. I was still figuring out what I needed vs. what I wanted. This pregnancy, I’ve been pretty frugal with how much I spend on maternity items.
Recently, I had a new mom-to-be reach out to me telling me she's positive she has gotten everything she and her child will need for the next year. She's done her diligent research and she's confident she won't be spending another dollar on baby related items. Bless her heart.
I really didn't want to write about this cause the wound's still pretty fresh. Maybe a few weeks from now, leaving my child at home while I go to work will be smooth sailing? Anyhoo, I had several new moms reach out to me asking how it is working with a child at home so now I feel compelled to talk about my experience.
Zidaan is 5 weeks old today. It’s hard to believe that my little guy is over a month old already. How time flies!
My sweet pea is here! And I've never been more in love. He made his debut into the world on February 9th. Before I forget details of my labor and delivery, I wanted to write a quick blog on my experience and share with everyone as well!
Every month on the 23rd, I would count how many more months I had to go till I could hold my baby. After today, January 23rd, there is less than a month until my nugget makes his appearance. Holy crap, I need to say that again. One month. Or less than a month.
I wish I could say everything has been amazing since the day he was born and I wake up every morning with a huge smile on my face ready to take on every hardship motherhood has to offer. While many things are undoubtedly wonderful, a few aspects of postpartum life definitely caught me off guard. Big time.
